WHAT IS PRP? - Platelet-rich plasma is a portion of the blood that contains growth factors that are responsible for accelerating wound healing, forming new blood vessels, cells and collagen. As a result of these reparative processes initiated by PRP, it is often used in cosmetic procedures to combat the signs of aging and rejuvenate the appearance of the face. PURPOSE - PRP injection/topical application with/without microneedling offers long term/permanent results by stimulating the natural reparative processes within your skin to increase collagen production, correct darkness/even skin tone, tighten skin, improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, minimize large pores, and improve the appearance of scarring and acne scarring TREATMENT AREAS - PRP can be applied topically on the full face with a microneedling procedure, or can be injected in areas such as the tear troughs (under eye), lower face, and scarred areas WHAT TO EXCEPT DURING PROCEDURE - A blood sample is collected from the patient and placed into a centrifuge, which separates the PRP from the rest of the blood. The serum is then drawn off and injected into or topically applied to the skin as a completely natural healing/rejuvenating substance without posing any risk of allergic reaction. If microneedling is paired with PRP application/injection, a topical numbing cream will be applied to the patient's face prior to the microneedling process. An after care solution will be applied to the patients to speed the healing process after microneedling. A few days of redness is to be expected after microneedling, and bruising is always a possibility with injection of PRP into any area of the face.
